Our town planner, Muhammad Aliff Nurhaqeem, had the opportunity to visit Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald, Switzerland.
In Lauterbrunnen, the experience was defined by its dramatic valley landscape, surrounded by steep cliffs and stunning waterfalls. The village is carefully positioned within the natural terrain, demonstrating a sensitive approach to development where the environment remains the dominant feature while supporting tourism and local activities.
The journey continued to Grindelwald, a lively alpine town set against iconic mountain peaks. Known for its well-organized tourism infrastructure, pedestrian-friendly areas, and efficient connectivity, Grindelwald reflects how mountain settlements can balance visitor demand with everyday urban functionality.
Together, both destinations highlight Switzerland’s strong emphasis on landscape integration, sustainable planning, and high quality public environments.
