Our town planner, Muhammad Aliff Nurhaqeem, had the opportunity to visit San Marino, one of the world’s oldest republics, known for its historic character and hilltop setting.
Perched high above the surrounding countryside, San Marino offers panoramic views and a compact urban form shaped by centuries of history. Its stone streets, fortified walls, and well-preserved towers reflect careful heritage conservation within a small city state.
San Marino is also known in the world of football for having one of the smallest national teams, representing a nation with a very limited population. Despite the challenges, the team continues to compete in international tournaments, symbolizing strong national pride and perseverance.
The visit offered meaningful insight into how history, identity, and modern life coexist within this unique microstate.
